Geeky icons needed for T-shirt design

We need your ideas for geeky symbols for our t-shirt!  The graphic will be of a large image made-up of lots of smaller icons. This links to an example of the type of piece we are creating.

Please send us your ideas for generic Geeky symbols we should include or if you have any particularly “fem” geeky symbols we would like to know about them.

Ideas we have so far:

  • computer monitor
  • microscope
  • math symbols
  • HTML code
  • geeky glasses
  • USB drive
  • mouse
  • power on button
  • circuit boards

You can send ideas and/or sketches in these ways.

  1. Comment on this blog with a link or idea.
  2. Post an image to our newly formed Flickr Group. She’s Geeky Icons.
  3. Tweet to us @shesgeeky or direct message (we follow all the women who follow us back).
  4. E-mail us info@shesgeeky.org with the subject “geeky icons”

You have until July 31 to get us your ideas that is next Friday.

Thank you to Portia from RubyPixel who is going to be working with us to make a really beautiful t-shirt design. You should be able to start ordering them in August!  I can’t wait!!

I caught this via Gail Williams. I realize I’m not a girl, but I am a geek and the cool thing about tech is that code, circuitry, math and the scientific method don’t care what your gender is.

    So here’s my brain dump:

    - a soldering iron and circuit hardware such as resistors, coils, LEDs, and pinned ICs.

    - Circuit schematic symbols: http://library.thinkquest.org/10784/circuit_symbols.html especially if they are put together as working components such as RF or sound oscillators, logic circuits, feedback circuits.

    - All kinds of code: C++, Perl, Ruby. Snippets of interesting code such as encryption or decryption schemes.

    - Math formulas such as Fourier transforms used in signal processing and converting analog into digital.

How about She’s Geeky in binary code?
You could use the code to make a strong feminine design. It could look really fierce if laid out right… Maybe even have She’s Geeky in small print on the back for those who need a translation ;-)
